Fintraffic and Awake.AI expand the AI-Powered Service to Improve Port Call Management stepwise in the Baltic Sea region
Helsinki, Finland – As global maritime supply chains become increasingly complex, Fintraffic Vessel Traffic Services Ltd. and Awake.AI are taking a significant step toward improving transparency, predictability, and coordination in maritime logistics. Together, they are expanding the AI-powered Port Call ETA Prediction and Event Monitoring Service stepwise to the whole Baltic Sea region, providing logistics stakeholders with more efficient operational capabilities.
Modern maritime logistics require seamless cooperation among various actors, including terminal operators, barge operators, freight forwarders, road haulers, and railway companies. To operate efficiently and avoid delays, such as truck idle time at ports – real-time visibility into vessel movements is essential. Implementing true Just-In-Time (JIT) operations depends on accurate, standardized, and continuously updated data.
To address this need, Fintraffic, with the support of Awake.AI, is providing an automated service that delivers real-time, AI-generated Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) predictions and monitors key events during port calls, including arrivals at berths, pilot boarding areas, and other defined maritime locations. The system leverages historical vessel movement data, live traffic information, weather and environmental conditions, and routing data to generate the most accurate forecasts possible.
Although the service is not yet fully deployed across the Baltic Sea region, configurations for additional countries are actively progressing. The service is designed for scalability—new ETA points and event monitoring locations can be easily added by authorized stakeholders to meet evolving operational needs. Through a standardized API-interface, the service continuously provides up-to-date, AI-generated ETA predictions and event data. This supports smooth and real-time information sharing and coordination between authorities, port community systems, and logistics operators. The enhanced situational awareness and predictability contribute to improved planning, reduced vessel and cargo waiting times, lower emissions, and more efficient, synchronized port operations across the region.
By leveraging the potential of artificial intelligence, Fintraffic and Awake.AI are laying the foundation for smarter, greener, and more synchronized port operations for the whole the Baltic Sea region, setting a new benchmark for the future of maritime logistics.
